This article explains why the user count in Audience Analytics may appear higher than expected, due to factors like shared networks, overlapping domains, and multi-device usage.
When viewing Audience Analytics, you might occasionally notice more users listed for a business than you expect - for example, seeing 30+ users when you know only a handful of team members are actively using the platform. Here's why that can happen:
1. Shared or Parent Company IP Addresses
If a business doesn't have a dedicated IP address, their online activity may be routed through a shared or parent company IP. This means user data can overlap between related businesses using the same network infrastructure.
In these cases, users from different teams or brands may be grouped together under one business if they're all accessing the platform from the same IP address.
2. Multiple Devices and Browsers
The same person can be counted as multiple users if they:
-
Access the platform on multiple devices (e.g., phone, laptop, tablet)
-
Use different browsers (e.g., Chrome, Safari, Edge)
-
Update or reinstall a browser, clear their cookies or use an ad blocker
Even though we offer sign-ins, not every visit requires authentication - so anonymous visits may still be counted as separate sessions.
3. Visitors to a Company
Guests, sales representatives, or others who visit ArchiPro while at your company may be counted as a user unless they are signed in.
In Summary
While Audience Analytics aims to provide an accurate view of who’s engaging with your business, certain technical factors can lead to a higher reported user count:
-
Shared networks or IP addresses
-
Overlapping domains
-
Multiple sessions by the same user across devices or browsers
These factors help explain why the numbers might not always align perfectly with your internal team list.
